Vacancies for IT professionals continue reaching new highs

in 2021 as hiring levels in June represent the fourth record- Wales

breaking month of the year. Firms in England and Wales

mark. Current 2021 vacancy volumes are now at 91% of

Banking
The second-largest region for IT vacancies is the South

In highest demand are IT development and engineering
specialists, retaining their spot as most popular vacancy by
specialisation. Firms in E&W published 16,672 jobs for these
experts up to and including June 2021 — accounting for 29.5%
of all IT jobs. However, as demand for other specialists rose
slightly faster, its share against overall vacancies dropped
from 31.2% in 2020 to 29.5% in 2021. IT management
specialists are second-most wanted, experiencing a labour
market share rise of 1.1%.
The fastest growing role is IT consultant, the hiring levels of
which are already up 7.5% year-on-year. A further breakdown
of roles within IT specialist vacancies show that while data
engineers and data scientists are the most in demand,
hiring levels for UX researchers have more than doubled
compared to 2020. IT gaming roles are also growing rapidly,
with vacancies for game producers and artists/creatives up
76.7% and 14.4% year-on-year, respectively.
With 854 vacancies so far in 2021, Amazon retains top spot
in the table of companies hiring the most IT professionals.
Next is Sky, which published 771 senior IT jobs in E&W up
to and including June 2021 — 8 more than its 2020 total.
PwC, meanwhile, is the only Big Four firm to be in the top 10.
The company has nearly already doubled its number of 2020
IT vacancies. Other firms to already hit year-on-year growth
include Vodafone (+83.3%), Version 1 (+65.9%), Accenture
(77.4%) and DXC Technology (79%).
