TEST METHOD
Microflown Technologies offers a complete solution to measure the acoustic properties of materials with its In-situ
absorption setup. This method is a true alternative for the well known Kundt's method or reverberant room method.
Taking (destructive) samples is no longer required, and also the absorption of sound waves under oblique angles of
incidence, as they occur in practice of course, can finally be tested. The system can even measure, next to material
samples, complete assembled parts. Extremely high spatial resolution allows analysis of inhomogeneous, e.g.
perforated, materials. As the in situ method also works with a relative movement between sample and probe, end of
line control of materials has become possible. With a small, handheld impedance gun the acoustic absorption,
reflection or impedance can be measured in just a few minutes, broad banded, under normal and oblique angles. With
a sound source at 23cm from the probe the noise is generated towards the sample. The sound pressure and acoustic
particle velocity are measured right on the surface of the material.

The sound absorption coefficient of a material for the twelve one-third octave bands from 125 through 4000
Hz, inclusive.
The noise reduction coefficient (NRC) is defined from test method as the average of the coefficients at 125,
250, 500, 1000, 2000, and 4000 Hz.

TEST REPORT
FOR : MMRDA-Mumbai
All the samples manufactured A-006,Western Edge II, Western Express Highway, Borivali (East),
Mumbai - 400 066have been tested for the wind load 150 N/m2. In India maximum wind load at any
condition is less than 150N/m2. Hence the noise barrier panel performed as follows:
Sample No. 1- size 3mXO.5 m (Actual Size of panel 2.96 m length x O.5m height):
3mXO.5m sample of noise barrier performed good at any elevated structure (flyover, elevated metro
corridors etc)
The test was performed according to DIN EN 1794-1:2011, annex A.6.2 . The Test has been shown in
Fig.1. & Fig. No.2, are as follows:

Determination of maximum resistance to vertical loads (loads from panel stacked on top)
according to DIN EN 1794-1-2011-annex B, for a road traffic noise reducing panel, consisting of
Aluminium profile and mineral wool, dimension 3.0xO.5xO.12m
The load was applied hydraulically, in order to retain the original appearance of the load two
noise barrier panel 2.96m x 0.5m x 0.12m on each other as shown in fig.no.3; therefore the
measurement of the deformations took place at the lower element. The criteria of the maximum
load were: Vertical deflection (maximum L/300) and horizontal bulging (maximum h/50).
