General Overview: -

The State Bank of India is largely divided into two main categories: -
1) ordinary banking functions 2) Central banking functions.
Central Banking Functions:
Where RBI branches are not available, SBI acts as the agent.
Some of the function of SBI as RBI agent:-
• Maintaining the currency
• Government’s bank
• Bank’s banker
• Acts as a clearinghouse
• Maintaining the currency.

General Banking Functions:


• Deposits in the form of savings, fixed, current, and recurring deposit accounts.
• Based on the security of stocks, securities, gives advances and loans to the public.
• Facility of drawings, accepting, and buying and selling the bills of exchange.
• Acts as a trustee, executor, or otherwise, based on the circumstances.
• Opening of public provident fund.
• It underwrites any issue related to the securities or the debentures that are
authorized.

Management of the company –


1) Chairman:- Shri Dinesh Kumar Khara , Mr. Khara entered SBI in 1984 as a
Probationary Officer and has over 36 years of experience in the banking industry.Mr.
Dinesh Kumar Khara, 59, holds a master's degree in business administration from
FMS New Delhi and a post-graduate diploma in commerce from the Delhi School of
Economics. He is also a Certified Associate of Indian Institute of Bankers (CAIIB).

2) Managing Director (Retail & Digital Banking :- Shri Challa Sreenivasulu Setty, he
started his career with State Bank of India in 1988 as a Probationary Officer. A
Bachelor of Science in Agriculture and also, a Certified Associate of Indian Institute of
Bankers

Conclusion and way forward for the company – As SBI is the biggest commercial bank in
India. It has a very bright way forward As the youth start replacing and with the new ideas of
them and energy SBI can go very far and as mentioned above SBI has more strengths than
weakness and more opportunity than threats . SBI can use its Strengths and opportunity to
overcome the weakness and threats. SBI has also stars using the electronic systems to
operate and prompting the cashless methods This will help SBI to grow and remain the
biggest commercial bank of India and do not let the private banks overcome
