Causes of Global Warming

Global warming is the gradual rise in the average temperature of the earth’s atmosphere

that is instigated by amplified concentrations of pollutant gases in the atmosphere. The pollutant

gases form a blanket layer around the earth, leading to a rapid increase in the earth’s temperature.

The leading roots of global warming include exhaust gases from car exhausts, usage of aerosol

spray products, and air pollution from various power stations around the earth producing

polluting gases. These lead to an effect like glaciers melting, climatic change, and rise in famines

and diseases on the environment in which the various kinds of species live in. Since human

beings do not take care of the earth, global warming is now ascribed to human activities

especially the burning of fossil fuels that has led to the discharge of carbon dioxide causing the

greenhouse effect.

One of the main causes of global warming is the discharge of pollutant gases more so

greenhouse gases. The greenhouse effect can be explained as where the atmosphere consists of

surplus concentrations of pollutants gases avoiding infrared energy from evasion and traps the

heat at the earth’s surface (Singh, 2015). Inescapably, this ensnared heat has led to an increase in

the temperature of the atmosphere as time goes by. According to Singh (2015), the noticeable

growth of these harmful gases, like methane, nitrous oxides and carbon dioxide can be drawn

back to the starting period of 19th century. From the starting of the age of the industrial

revolution, a rise in the population of the world has brought to more extensive use of fossil fuels

to further economic development and supplement human luxury, financial return, and

convenience.

Other than the upsetting effects of greenhouse gases there is deforestation, which brings

global warming in dual ways. In one way, trees can absorb one of the major greenhouse gases

called carbon dioxide, and in case the forests are cleared for building homes, they are at no point

able to captivate carbon dioxide (Ward, 2015). An example of this is the Amazon rainforest that

is devastated by landless farmers, clearing to have a place for planting, and unauthorized

lumbering, and many others. The damage of this place is invaluable to the human inhabitants,

cause the forest is believed to remain a sink, signing that it still captivates to some extent more

carbon than it discharges.

Global warming is also caused by increased heights of harmful discharge caused by a

higher growth rate of population that is linked with industrial development. Since population

growth will lead to a rise in demand for goods and services, this will increase the levels of

manufacturing and consumption of products, leading to higher levels of greenhouse effects. This

indicates that an increase in levels of the population will be the backbone of increased levels of

global warming due to increased emission of carbon dioxide gas which a harmful gas to the

atmosphere. Nevertheless, there is expected to be a growth in population and economic change

which will continue to increase the pressure of the production rate of carbon dioxide.

Global warming is also contributed by trees when they are burnt for energy seeing that

they consist of half percent carbon. When trees are burnt for purposes of producing energy, they

tend to output back the carbon dioxide they had preserved into the atmosphere which is a

harmful gas (Dincer et al., 2013). This is indicated when the gases met trapped across the cores

of polar ice are found to have increased to a certain degree. Through the help of radioactivity and

chemical configuration of the gas, we understand that this is at most caused by clearing of

world’s trees and burning of pollutant gases. These pollutants gases like carbon dioxide can be in

the atmosphere for up to a hundred years being the reason why global warming has not

disappeared and it is believed to go on to the future.

Conclusion

The increased emission of harmful products in the atmosphere has been seen to be among

the leading causes of global warming. Hence there is a need for awareness to the human beings

regarding this issue so as to help lower its expansion rate. The pollutant of gases by motor

vehicles can be reduced by inventing solar-powered motor vehicles and widespread

acknowledgment of them that will produce zero percent of harmful gases to the atmosphere.

Human beings should be advised on the necessity to take care of trees and preservation of forests

to help the absorption of carbon dioxide gases. Concerning population growth rate, it is a notable

root of increased emission of harmful products. Human beings should be sensitized about

deforestation and the widespread burning of forests to ensure global warming is not increasing at

a higher rate and hence lower the rapid rise of the earth’s temperature.
