II. Project Description

A. What is the project about?

The proposed project aims to reduce waste in the community through

"TRASHFormation," which involves collecting already cleaned plastic wrappers from junk meals
and cutting them into strips. The plastic wrap strips will then be placed in plastic bottles and
handed over to the barangay. There will be a predetermined amount of plastic bottles to be
filled. For every set of plastic bottles that can be used to make a pillow out of plastic wrap strips.
The pillows will be auctioned, and the proceeds will be utilized to buy school supplies for the
recipients of the planned project.

B. What is to be learned in this community context?

The implementation of the proposed project will encourage the proponents and
members of the community to care more about the environment and to use additional waste-
reduction strategies. Through this project, individuals of the community can learn how to
enhance their local tourism. Additionally, their abilities, talents, and creativity are developed and
trained, as well as used in implementation.

III. Project Rationale

A. How the Idea for the Project Developed

The proponents had conducted an online survey to assess the state of the community.
With this, they uncovered an existing problem in the neighborhood: a lack of waste
management, as well as a community with out-of-school adolescents due to financial
constraints. In response to this, the proponents devised a program to assist the community in
minimizing similar quandaries. TrashFormation was designed not just to
reduce waste in the community, but also to raise awareness that waste may be used to produce
money.

B. Students’ Current Knowledge and Skills and How the Project will Enrich Them

As first-year college students at the University of Batangas Lipa Campus pursuing a

Bachelor of Science in Information and Technology, the proponents feel compelled to take
action in response to the various societal concerns that the country is confronted with. They
would like to perform modest deeds that have a large impact on their homeland. This project will
help them to be completely aware of the state of the environment and, as a result, to provide
answers to the challenges they will face in lowering environmental concerns.

C. Benefits of the Project to the Students’ Lifelong Skills

The implementation of this project will help the proponents in understanding how their
decisions and actions affect the environment. These projects help to develop the knowledge
and skills needed to address environmental concerns and take action to preserve our
environment healthy. Because ecotourism is a type of tourism that is intended to protect the
environment or decrease its damage, proponents may apply their knowledge because it is also
part of their curriculum.

VII. Project Management

This project aims to foresee the possible result of the plan that will be implemented to
some barangays. The said program which is The TRASHFormation: from trash to
treasure will be enactment by the cooperation of a group of people such as:

 Barangay Officials

- For implementing this project, the assistance of our barangay officials

especially the community leaders will help us to implement to the people
in the barangay the purpose and aim of this project in a community.

 Talk / Seminar

- One of the effective ways to implement a project is to do seminars or talk

which they can give opinions and raise questions on a certain topic. Also
for them to understand what will be the outcome of their contribution as a
residents for the development of the community.
This project is not only important for the proponents, but most especially to

the community. Having said this, the proponents expect that the tasks will be executed
properly. A part of any organization’s success in achieving any goal is efficiency in
management. The proponents decided to delegate the work into specific tasks to
appropriate members. The proponents created three committees that will focus on
different areas of the project. First is the Finance Committee. This committee will be in
charge of collecting the dues to the members. They should also properly account the
expenses and see to it that it will not be too much for the group’s budget. Also, they are
responsible in making sure that the groups maximizes its funds well to be able to given
tokens at the end of implementation, in the event of excess money from the fund. Next
is the logistics committee, which will be in charge of securing the materials to be used
for the project. They are also responsible in checking the necessary materials needed in
each of the group’s activities in each of the sessions to come. Finally, the Management
and Documentation Committee’s duty is to handle the activities for the group’s actual
project implementation. They will focus particularly on the tasks during specific activities
after the making of materials and provide schemes in which to execute those activities
efficiently. This committee is also responsible in documenting the highlights of the
project through pictures, videos or documents.

would have been able to make the signage, books and other values education materials
to be used and given to CSSD-PHDCC Mintal.

c.) During the third and fourth day of the project implementation, the members of the
group would have been able to teach the students how to use the different educational
materials and gather lessons from them. d.) The group would have been able to discuss
basic values and/or religious lessons to the students and to interact with them through
games and group sharing during the third and fourth sessions of the project
implementation. e.) That on the last day of project implementation, which will be on
February 7, 2008, the group would have been able to organize a culminating activity
involving the students, teachers and parents of PHDCC. a. The children would have
been able to realize the importance of the activity in building better relationships among
their peers and mentors. b. The teachers would have been able to see the potentials of
nurturing their students with values education through proper guidance. c. The parents
