Digital Still Camera- It takes still pictures which are stored in a media card (also called DIGICAM)
Media Card/ Memory Card- is a small flat information storage device that holds data in flash
memory used especially in digital cameras and mobile phones (also called MEMORY CARTRIDGE)
SD CARDS/ Secure Digital Cards- It is a cards that are oldest and least-used, and these are limited
to 2 GB of storage.
SDHC CARDS/ Secure Digital High Capacity Cards- these cards can store up to 32 GB of data.
SDXC CARDS/ Secure Digital Extended Capacity Cards- these cards can store up to 2 Terabytes
(2000 GB).
Digital Video Camera- It takes moving pictures or videos and stores them in digital video
cassette or digital video disc.
Manual Control- It is a type of camera that let you control the settings manually.
HDMI out socket/ Port- You can connect your DVC to a TV or monitor through an HDMI cable attached
to the HDMI out socket.
Headphone Jack- By connecting a pair of headphones to your camera, you will be able to monitor the
sound of your video.
Microphone Jack- The microphone that comes with your camera is already of good quality.
USB Port- DVCs have USB ports. This is another way for the user to transfer audio and video data
between their video recording device and computer.
Viewfinder- The viewfinder allows you to see what your camera is recording.
LCD- the LCD on your camera usually swivels out from the side. It also displays the same information
that you see on the viewfinder, only larger. (Liquid Crystal Display- LCD)
Lens- The lens collects light and focuses the image onto your camera’s sensor chip.
Zoom Rocker- This lets you quickly adjust your lens angle from a wide-angle to a telephoto lens,
depending on the kind of shot you need to make.
Memory Card Slot- The memory card slot is where you insert your flash memorycard.
On Board Microphone- Digital video cameras come with an on-board microphone which works fine for
ordinary use.
Record Button- One of the most important things to remember during a shoot is to press the record
button to begin recording.
Battery- Each camera brand and model has its own battery pack. Make sure you use the right kind for
your camera.
Tripod Mounting Nut- This is found at the bottom of the camera. You secure the screw of your tripod’s
mounting plate onto this to mount your camera on the tripod.
STORAGE
Digital Video (DV) Cassette- The smallest format of the DV cassette, called MiniDV, has the physical
dimensions of 65 x 48 x 12 millimeters.
Digital Versatile Disc or Digital Video Disc (DVD)- DVD is an optical disc media format that can be used
for data storage.
Flash Memory Card- Newer digital video cameras have options to store the video in a digital manner
through an internal hard drive or swappable flash drives such as an SD Card or MicroSD card.
Pen Drive- a very small, portable storage device that plugs into a computer and facilitates moving data
between machines.
RESOLUTION- Resolution is the fineness of detail in a bitmap image and is measured in pixels per inch.
Megapixel or Pixel is a unit of graphic resolution equivalent to one million or (strictly) 1,048,576
Most digital still cameras comes with at least 2.0 megapixels (two million pixels).

Cables:
USB Cables - It is attach to the USB slot of your camera on one end and to the USB port of your
computer on the other.
FireWire Cable - commonly used for MiniDV video cameras and it transfers data more quickly than a USB
cable.
