Engine Failure During Takeoff Run Engine Fire During Start On Ground
• Throttle IDLE • Magnetos Switch START (Continue cranking)
• Brakes APPLY IF ENGINE STARTS
• ATC ADVISE • Power 1800 RPM for two minutes
• Flaps RETRACT • Engine SHUTDOWN
• Mixture IDLE CUT‐OFF IF ENGINE FAILS TO START
• Magnetos Switch OFF • Throttle FULL OPEN
• Master Switch OFF • Mixture IDLE CUT‐OFF
• Magnetos Switch START (continue cranking for two minutes)
• Fuel Shutoff Valve OFF
Engine Failure Immediately After Takeoff • Fuel Pump OFF
• Airspeed 68 KIAS (FLAPS UP) • Magnetos Switch OFF
65 KIAS (FLAPS DOWN)
Land Straight Ahead or within 30° of RWY Centerline • Master Switch OFF
• Mixture IDLE CUT‐OFF • Engine SECURE
• Fuel Shutoff Valve OFF • Brakes RELEASE
• Magnetos Switch OFF • Fire Extinguisher OBTAIN
• Flaps AS REQUIRED CALL FOR ASSISTANCE FROM GROUND CREW
• Master Switch OFF
• Doors UNLATCH Engine Fire In Flight
• Mixture IDLE CUT‐OFF
Engine Failure During Flight (If Time Permits) • Fuel Shutoff Valve OFF
• Airspeed (V Best Glide) 68 KIAS • Fuel Pump OFF
• Best Landing Field CHOSEN • Master Switch OFF *
• Fuel Selector BOTH • Cabin Air/Heat OFF
• Fuel Shutoff Valve IN • Cabin Vents OPEN (as needed)
• Mixture FULL RICH • Airspeed 100 KIAS
• Fuel Pump ON • Forced Landing Procedure EXECUTE
• Master Switch CHECK ON * Master Switch BATT side should be ON in Force Landing Procedure
