< :t11111ll'r 2. Like-colour bishops

Fm t h e successful playing of endings with bishop and pawn against bishop it is important to
know several standard positions by heart (Nos. 1 37- 1 43 and 146). In endgames with many pawns, the
pawns should be arranged as Capablanca advised - on squares of opposite colour to the bishop
( Nos. 1 50 a nd 1 54). A passed pawn (Nos. 144, 149 and 1 52) often ensures a significai:it advantage. But
here too extra material by no means guarantees a win (Nos. 1 38, 1 39, 1 4 1 , 143, 145 and 148).

Kapitel 2. Einfarbige Laufer

auswendig einige Standardstellungen zu wisses (N!!N!! 1 37- I 43, 146).
