Bill Gates – Founder Of Microsoft, One Of The Richest People

In The World
Maybe some people still don't know him. Bill Gates for many years he perched at
number one on the list of the richest people in the world. Although he dropped out of
college, he is the boss and founder of Microsoft, the largest software company in the
world. Microsoft itself was originally known for providing various service systems for
computers in the form of software (software).

Because it is growing, Microsoft finally launched Windows, the operating system for
computers. This is where the names of Bill Gates and Microsoft began to be known
by the world community. He became a successful business figure who inspired many
people thanks to his intelligence. Not only that, now Bill Gates is listed as the third
richest person in the world according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

William Henry Gates III or better known as Bill Gates was born on October 28, 1955,
in Seattle, Washington. He is the second of three children.

His father William Henry Gates was a corporate attorney with many contacts in the
city. While his mother Mary Maxwell is an employee of First Interstate Bank, Pacific
Northwest Bell and a member of the United Way National Level.

He was the second of three children and was interested in computers at the age of
thirteen. While studying at Lakeside School, Bill Gates used the BASIC type
programming language to do his first programming. Bill Gates also studied another
system called a minicomputer called the DEC PDP, especially the PDP-10 type
which was then owned by the Computer Center Corporation (CCC).

Unfortunately, the use of the PDP-10 computer was limited in time, but he didn't lose
his mind. Together with some of his friends such as Paul Allen, Kent Evans, Ric
Wellan, he exploited bugs in the operating system to get extra time. Unfortunately,
their actions were discovered so the CCC banned them from accessing the system
during the summer. Then the CCC offered the four men to look for another bug in the
software when the term expired in exchange for extra time to use the computer. He
took this opportunity to learn various programming languages written in LISP and
FORTRAN. The four friends worked at CCC until 1970.

Bill Gates and his three friends then worked at Information Sciences, Inc. after CCC
went bankrupt, in 1971. He also worked at the Lakeside school to create programs
that managed student class schedules, in addition to Information Sciences, Inc. At
the age of 17, Gates and Allen founded Traf-O-Data which focused on calculating
traffic using the Intel 8008 processor.

Bill Gates' education at Lakeside School was completed in 1973. Gates took the SAT
test and got very high scores and was accepted at Harvard College. It was at this
university that Gates became acquainted with Steve Ballmer who would later
succeed him as CEO of Microsoft.

In his second year of college, Gates developed an algorithm for pancake sorting as a
solution to one of a series of unsolved problems in his combinatorics class by Harry
Lewis, one of his professors. Amazingly, Gates' solution holds the record for being
the fastest version for 30 years and its successor is only one percent faster.

In fact, Bill Gates has no plans to study at Harvard and prefers to spend his time
fiddling with school computers. In his third year at Harvard, the MITS Altair 8800
based on the Intel 8080 CPU was released. Bill Gates and Paul Allen saw this as an
opportunity to build their own computer software company.

Finally, Bill Gates left college and began to focus on building Microsoft with his best
friend Paul Allen. It was originally Microsoft's establishment to develop and sell the
BASIC translator for the Altair 8800. The company continued to grow and dominate
the personal computer operating system market with its MS-DOS in the mid-1980s,
followed by the Microsoft Windows line of operating systems.

Until now, Microsoft is still a pioneer of computer operating systems in the world and
has acquired various companies. Microsoft's success helped make Bill Gates reap a
lot of profits. One thing to note, when Bill Gates and Paul Allen founded Microsoft,
they had a mission "a computer on every desktop and in every home". At first the
idea might not have made sense at the time. But who would have thought if their
vision could be realized.

The history and life story of Bill Gates does not always run smoothly. In 1990, he
was sued by the United States Department of Justice on charges of monopolizing
small companies. Various accusations say that Microsoft made a secret agreement
with computer manufacturers to install the Windows operating system on their
computers. Another allegation states that Microsoft forced computer manufacturers
to sell Microsoft Internet Explorer as a condition of using the Windows operating
system on their computers.

In 1999, he also had trouble with law business in the United States. The cases that
ensnared his company did not destroy Microsoft, in fact made it even more so that it
has grown to this day.

Bill Gates decided to resign as CEO of Microsoft in 2000 and handed the post to
Steve Ballmer. Gates became chief software architect, though he remained
chairman of the board of directors. In 2006, he wanted to devote more time to the Bill
and Melinda Gates Foundation and two years later he stepped down as Microsoft's
chief software architect on 27 June 2008.

Bill Gates also resigned as chairman of Microsoft and moved to a new position as an
advisor. technology in February 2014. A change of position also occurred to
Microsoft's CEO at that time, Steve Ballmer, who was replaced by 46-year-old Satya
Nadella. Bill and his wife Melinda Gates founded a charitable foundation called The
Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) to help people around the world live
healthier and more productive lives. The organization founded by Bill Gates in 2000
was able to help 20,000 people to continue their studies. Two years later the
foundation helped install 47,000 computers in 11,000 libraries in 50 states. As a
result, 95% of libraries have computers with Internet access, up from 27 percent in
1996.

In 2010, Bill and Melinda pledged $0 billion over the next 10 years to help research
and develop vaccines in the world's poorest countries. Three years later, Gates
helped 5.5 billion dollars to eradicate polio in 2018. To this day, Bill and Melinda are
still actively running various charities to help people in need.
