Geological Hazard: Earthquake
Before:
• Prepare your SURVIVAL KIT, this includes:
• No-prep meals
• First Aid Kit
• Clothes
• Toiletries
• Important Documents
• Essential Tools
• Familiarize yourself with the location of fire extinguishers, medical kits, exit routes,
and your building’s evacuation plan
• Discuss a designated meet up location with family in case you’re separated.
Geological Hazard: Earthquake
During:
• DUCK, COVER AND HOLD under somewhere stable (ex. desk or table)
• Stay calm and stay put
• Stay away from glass windows, shelves, and heavy and hanging objects

After:
• Stay alert in the event of aftershocks
• Stay out of buildings until advised
• Stay UPDATED. Use a battery-operated radio
Water-Related Hazard: Flood and Landslide
Before:
• Know the latest news about floods and landslides in your area.
• Store necessities (water, canned goods or ready-to-eat foods.)
• Look for a place where you can temporarily stay should you need to
vacate your house.
Water-Related Hazard: Flood and Landslide
During:
• Turn off the main power switch. If you need to evacuate, close all windows and doors.
• Do not wade through floodwaters to avoid being electrocuted and contracting diseases
such as leptospirosis.
• Avoid going out of the house as much as possible
After:
• When examining and returning to your house, use a flashlight if there is no power
supply. Avoid using candles or gas lamps as this may cause fire.
• Report damaged electrical cables and telephone lines to the authorities.
• Do not immediately turn on the main power switch and other electrical appliances
submerged in floodwaters. Call an electrician before using electrical appliances.
Fire Hazard
Before:
• Trainings
• Fire Prevention, Disaster Preparedness, Firefighting
• Proper Evacuation Procedures
• Proper Search and Rescue (SAR) procedures
• Incident Command System (ICS)
• First Aid and Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Do regular Inspections
• Know your evacuation routes, transportation and a place to stay with family or
friends outside of the evacuation zone.
Fire Hazard
During:
• Close all windows, doors and vents inside your home
• Check if there is smoke coming from under the door or if the door is
hot to touch. If the door is cool to touch, open it slowly and pass. If
not, keep it closed and stay in the room.
• Crawl and cover your nose and mouth. Smoke is toxic and inhaling
large amounts can render you unconscious. Once you are outside,
call the fire department.
Fire Hazard
After:
• Continue to check in with news updates for information about the
fire
• Send text messages/social media to reach out to family and friends;
• Proceed with caution: maintain a “fire watch” and check your home
and surrounding areas for small, lingering embers
