Aircraft Avionics
and Architecture
Dear colleagues,
The trend of replacing hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical systems and sub-systems with electric equivalents, coupled with a call
for high passenger comfort and in-flight entertainment systems has resulted in an ever increasing demand on an aircraft's power
requirements.
Advances in the areas of power electronics are therefore necessary to provide the technology to improve efficiency and safety of
aircraft systems operation. At the same time, an increased use of electromechanical and electro hydrostatical actuation requires
the evolution of the electrical power distribution system.
The reliability of the electrical system is also reliant on maintenance and ground support, the correct independent part selection and
the supervised installation of each electrical component. Drivers of weight and of course cost reduction must also be taken into
consideration. All these issues and more take on an increased significance as the aircraft industry moves towards the More Electric
Aircraft with an ultimate goal of distributing only electrical power across the airframe.
At these two conference days and two specialist workshops you will have the opportunity to exchange and discuss experience on the
advanced system architectures, intelligent thermal management and optimised component technologies needed to ensure the
success of the next generation More Electric Aircraft.
