Assessment 3: Website, blog, and reflection essay (40%)

Project: Creation of website, blogs and reflection essay

Individual assessment
Due date: Week 12

Project overview:
This assignment requires you to 1) create an online portfolio website into which you can place your
best creative work as your progress through your degree, 2) three blog posts of 400 words each
around guided topics (to be confirmed by your lecturer), and 3) a 600-word course reflection essay.

In Week 3, students must submit the URL of their website to their lecturer.
In Week 8, student websites will be shared in class for peer review and discussion.

Learning Objectives
The following learning objectives will be met by completion of this assessment:
 Initiate, produce and evaluate media projects and be able to adapt your practice
in a complex and changing world.
 Reflect upon, direct and evaluate your own learning.
 Work with others in a range of roles and contexts, demonstrating cultural,
environmental and social awareness and ethical and reflective practice.

Specifications:
Students create a website through either Wix, Weebly or a similar free website template site.
Assessment criteria include the amount of personalisation students add to their sites, such as
customised backgrounds, additional pages, photos, creative writing, work from other courses, and
work from this course. Students are also required to write at least three blogs (about 400 words
each and optionally accompanied by photos). Topics will be confirmed by your lecturer but could
include group dynamics, technology and software, and project management. The capstone 600-
word reflection essay gives students opportunities to reflect upon what they learned taking this
course, identify areas of strengths and weaknesses, and suggest future learning opportunities to
address these identified strengths and weaknesses. The quality of writing (grammar, spelling, word
choice, etc.) is factored into final marks.

Submission instructions:
Students are required to submit their latest website URL and associated RMIT paperwork via Canvas.
Your Canvas submission needs to be clearly labeled using the following format:
1. A document with the student’s name, S- number, and t h e w o rd s “A s si g n m e n t 3 . ”
This document should include the RMIT Cover sheet and author sheet.
