PVOT 4A QUBE- IDEA LESSON EXEMPLAR

School Carmona National High School Grade Level Grade 10

LESSON Teacher Ms. Jenina L. Binene Learning Area Science
EXEMPLAR Teaching Date October 6, 2021 (Week 4) Quarter First
Teaching Time 8:00am – 12:00pm No. of Days 1

I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standards The learners demonstrate understanding of the relationship among the locations of
volcanoes, earthquake epicenters, and mountain ranges.
The learners should be able to:
B. Performance • demonstrate ways to ensure disaster preparedness during earthquakes,
Standards tsunamis, and volcanic eruptions
• suggest ways by which he/she can contribute to government efforts in reducing
damage due to earthquakes, tsunamis, and volcanic eruptions
At the end of the lesson the students must be able to:
• identify the different types of plate boundaries.
C. Learning • Develop a self-map world map drawing with the legend about the location
Competencies/Objectives of different types of plate boundaries
• Explain how the occurrence of such plate boundaries affects our lives

D. Most Essential Describe the different types of plate boundaries

A. INTRODUCTION

PRELIMINARY ACTIVITY
Video presentation on Plate Tectonic Theory
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MZ-sVQElqhE&t=30s

CONCEPT PRESENTATION:
• Plate Tectonics is the theory that Earth's outer shell is divided into large slabs of
solid rock, called “plates,” that glide over Earth's mantle, the rocky inner layer
above Earth’s core.

➔ What the tectonic plates look like

B. DEVELOPMENT

➔ How many tectonic plates are there?

• The three types of plate boundaries are convergent, divergent and transform.
Convergent boundary a boundary in which two plates move toward each other,
causing one of the slabs of the lithosphere to subduct beneath an overriding
plate. Divergent boundary is a region where the crustal plates are moving apart.
Transform fault boundary is a boundary produced when two plates slide past
each other.

• In your Social Studies subject, you have learned about the different landmasses
(anyong lupa) like plain (kapatagan), mountain ranges (bulubundukin) and
valley (lambak), what geologic feature do you think will form if convergent plate
boundary occur? How about in divergent plate boundary?
