The Freedom of Information Police Network Conference (FOIPN), hosted for the first time by the Durham Opportunities
Regional Police Service, began Monday, October 4 at the Holiday Inn in Oshawa. Approximately 100 Police

across Ontario. information about working for
DRPS.

The guests were given a formal welcome Monday morning with opening remarks from Chief Mike Ewles,
Chair of the FOIPN Darlene Shepherd from Hamilton Police Service and Vice­Chair Lisa Wright from
DRPS.

The conference’s guest speakers will address common concerns the co­ordinators, analysts and clerks
share, including:
• Fees 
• Routine Disclosure/Active Dissemination 
• Processing Requests 
• Criminal Record Searches  Frequently Asked
• The Digital Trail  Questions:
• Privacy Issues  Becoming a DRPS
Police Officer
The three­day workshop starts with a one day beginner course followed by two days of hands­on case Get answers to some of the
