LESSON PLAN
DESCRIPTION OF THE CLASS:
OBJECTIVES:
• Properly use main words and structures learnt so far- the feelings, the rooms of the house, the
colours, the adjectives;
• Identify and follow certain instructions;
• Name different types of homes;
• Describe their home;
• Recognize the parts of a house;
• Name the items in each part of the house.
MATERIALS:
• flashcards, textbooks, handouts, links, polystyrene board, blank sheets of paper, coloured pencils,
tacks, removable adhesive, video projector, laptop.
ASSESSMENT:
E1 – Mimic activities performed in different rooms of the house
E2 – Draw your favourite room and describe it
ANTICIPATED PROBLEMS
- with students: There can be different words that are misunderstood or unknown.
- with tasks: Ss might have troubles with understanding the English language when the
tasks are given
SOLUTIONS:
- the T will use native language, if necessary;
-the tasks will be explained in native language, by the ss who understood them best.

ACTIVITY 1: WARM UP
OBJECTIVE: To set lesson context and engage students
ESTIMATED TIME: 5’
DESCRIPTION OF THE ACTIVITY: The T greets the Ss and asks how they are, then checks
homework- Draw at least three faces expessing feelings (sad, happy, angry etc.)
The teacher asks the students to pay attention and do what they are asked to. Thus, the T directs the Ss to
do the following:
• wave your hands
• touch your nose
• open your books on page 10
• close your books
• show me the pen
• stand up
• clap your hands
• stamp your feet
• left hands up
• right hands up
• point to the window/door/clock/blackboard/teacher etc.
• turn around
• sit down.
ACTIVITY 2: LEAD-IN
OBJECTIVE: To provide context for the target language
CLASS ORGANISATION: T-Ss, Ss-T
ANTICIPATED PROBLEMS: Ss might not remember some of the characters included in this
activityor might lack some of the words related to homes/houses
SOLUTIONS TO PROBLEMS: The T will give hints in order to elicit the right words
ESTIMATED TIME: 5’
MATERIALS: Flashcards with characters related to particular types of houses they live in; Removable
adhesive, video projector, laptop.
DESCRIPTION OF THE ACTIVITY:
Ss watch a short video on the topic My Home

The T stands in front of the class and shows Ss one character after the other, saying: My name
is...(Baloo)........ and I live in .......(a cage)......
The Ss have to say the names of the characters and the names of the houses related to the
characters given.
The flashcards are stuck onto the blackboard.
ACTIVITY 3
OBJECTIVE: To make up a house using the pieces given
ANTICIPATED PROBLEMS: Ss might not identify the right function of the drawing
SOLUTIONS TO PROBLEMS: The T will help them out, suggesting the right place
ACTIVITY 4
OBJECTIVE: To learn new vocabulary related to items in a house
SOLUTIONS TO PROBLEMS: The T will help them out, suggesting the right place
DESCRIPTION OF THE ACTIVITY: Each students picks a picture of items in a house and tacks
it onto the board. There are items such as: microwave, bathtub, flower, TV etc.
ACTIVITY 5
OBJECTIVE: To practise the new vocabulary through game and mimics
ANTICIPATED PROBLEMS: Ss might feel uncomfortable with showing off in front of the class
ESTIMATED TIME: 5’
MATERIALS: -
DESCRIPTION OF THE ACTIVITY: Ss will perform some activities that we do in the house
(through mimics) and the class have to guess the room they are in.
ACTIVITY 6: ASSESSMENT
OBJECTIVE: to revise and reinforce the new vocabulary
DESCRIPTION OF THE ACTIVITY: Ss are asked to draw their favourite part of the house and
present it to the class.
