There are three scripts used in Japanese called Nihongo

3. Katakana

● Good evening - Konbanwa ( n is silent and nb = m )

● See you tomorrow - Mata Ashita
● Long time no see - Hisahiburi
● How are you - O-genki desuka?
○ Yes, I'm fine - Hai Genki desu
○ No, I'm not fine - Iie genki dewa arimasen
○ Yes, by the grace of God. - Hai, okage samade genki desu.

● Hajimemashite - Hello ( when meeting for the first time )


● Ittekimasu - I'll come home soon

● Okaerinasai - Welcome home
● Itadakimasu - (Before the meal)Thank you for the food.
● Gochisosama deshita - (End of the meal) Thank you for the food.

Expressions - Self introduction ( jiko shoukai )

1. My name is Harshita (Your name).


Watashiwa Harshita (Your name) desu.

2. I come from Delhi (Place).


Delhi (Place) shuu kara kimashita.

3. I am Indian (National).
Watashiwa Indojin (National) desu.

4. I am glad to meet you/ Nice to meet you.

Use of San, Kun and Chan

● San - Used after someone’s name (senior/professional setting). For example,


Ram-san.
● Kun - Used only after boys' names (younger). For example, Rahul-Kun.
● Chan - Used after a baby, children, pet, or people we find adorable. For example,
Priya-Chan.
● Sensei - Used after the name of a teacher or doctor. For example, Sam-Sensei.

● 4 - Yon/Shin
● 5 - Go
● 6 - Roku
● 7 - Nana/Shichi
