Position: LAB TECHNICIAN

Key responsibilities

• Provide Counselling that is effective, contextually and ethically appropriate, in-line with HIV
confidentiality principles and with respect for human rights and values of PLHIV.
Counselling may cover the aspects of HIV prevention/transmission risk reduction, pre-&
post-test Counselling, Treatment adherence, Couple counselling/ Family
planning/Reproductive Health, Nutritional counselling and Psychological Support.
• Ensure timely completion, accuracy and documentation of Registers/tools in the required
formats.
• Overall physical assessment of PLHIV, taking and recording vitals (temperature, BP, weight,
height). In case of any change in patient condition/complaints inform counselor or supervisor
for follow-up with ART/Treating Physician or medical referral.
• Ensure proper storage and report on the status testing kits and other consumables
• Practice Universal precaution principles and infection control practices while performing
community-based testing, basic palliative and nursing care where required.
• To provide on-site clinical assessment of the clients, HIV testing, symptomatic management
of STIs and basic nursing care.
• Provide appropriate information and advice to the patients according the Doctor’s
prescription.
• Submit monthly report about the clinical clients to the supervisor.
• Maintain confidentiality and security of client information at all times.
