Flipped classroom

Flipped learning is basically doing school work at home and home work in school. In flipped
classroom, students watch a video and answer questions that are sent by the teacher. This way,
students learn in a better way since most students remember better when they see something
instead of reading it or writing it. It ‘flips’ the traditional learning environment by giving instructions
to students online instead of making them do tasks inside the classroom (reading or writing).
Students also collaborate on online discussions.

Flipped classroom is better than traditional homework since even the slow-learners can cope up
with the others. Slow-learners are usually the least confident so they don’t ask any questions to the
teacher even if they don’t understand the concept. However, in flipped classroom, students will
understand better since videos are more fun than lectures.

According to ‘flippedlearning.org’, flip is abbreviated into:

F- Flexible environment
L- Learning culture
I- Intentional content
P- Professional educator

Flipped classrooms have a flexible environment in which students can feel free to ask anything about
the topic. In traditional classrooms, teachers are the main sources but flipped classrooms are
learner-centred. That is, it concentrates more on the learner than the teacher.
