In the following problems, unless otherwise stated, assume μnCox = 200 μA/V2, μpCox =100 A/V2,
and VTH = 0.4 V for NMOS devices and −0.4 V for PMOS devices, where necessary.

1. [0.6] Determine the region of operation for each transistor shown in Fig. 1 and Fig. 2.
Explain your answers.

2. [0.8] Determine the small signal resistance viewed from node vx to ground in the circuit
shown in Fig. 3. Assume all transistor in saturation region and consider the channel length
modulation effect. Vdd, Ib and Ia are ideal sources. Body effect can be neglected.

3. [2.0] The circuit in Fig.4 is a voltage amplifier. Please, ignore the body effect and:

a) Determine and expression for the small signal voltage gain Vout/Vin. To do this,
consider all transistors are saturated and channel length modulation is presented only in
M1 and M3.
b) Find an expression for the output resistance of this amplifier. In this case, take into
account the channel length modulation for ALL transistors.

All sources are ideal.
