Location
This company is located at the historical town of Mysore, situated 150 km from the Silicon
Valley of India, Bangalore.
Mysore provides the ideal environment for hi-tech companies with its clean environment,
availability of abundant skilled technological manpower and good living standards enabling
our mission of providing cost effective products for rural population of the world.
Facility
Skanray's new unit is housed in an 80000sqft campus with more than 50000sqft of office,
labs and manufacturing facility. Skanray has the latest in filtration, vacuum encapsulation and
clean-room product assembly area to meet international standards.
The engineering laboratory has the latest software, tools and equipments for power
electronics, high voltage, mechanical, embedded and software product development. This
will enable Skanray to be the best in the industry in product development, manufacturing and
engineering services.
The facility also houses a reliability and environment test laboratory with capabilities for
accelerated stress tests, life tests and type tests.

Vishwaprasad Alva, CEO & MD
Vishwaprasad Alva brings in more than 19

years of experience, in the field of power
converter design, manufacturing engineering,
manufacturing process, business
management and marketing. He is a Post-
Graduate in Power Electronics with training
in Business Management from KIAMS.
Alva started his career in Kirloskar Electric

Co. in Power Converters division and
worked in design of advanced Power converters and control for UPS and Industrial
automation. After 9 years as an R & D head in Kirloskar including a 2 year stint in
operations, Marketing and Customer service, Alva moved over to GE medical systems in
1999 to form and lead the X Ray Generators group. As a Senior Manager of X Ray
Engineering, he was responsible for development of products for new applications,
technology transfer of products, support the customer base across the globe and deliver
productivity on existing products. His responsibilities included project execution control,
budgeting, Global technology growth plan strategy, resource planning & development, and
coordination with cross functional Operations team.
Prior to founding Skanray, Alva was serving at the GE headquarters in Milwaukee -USA as a
Technical Integration Manager leading the Image Chain sub-systems projects for CT and
coordinating the Global X-Ray synergy within other businesses of GE using X Ray
technology. He held the responsibility to drive Lean concepts and design guidelines across
multiple engineering teams of the Image Chain group.

K Balasubramanian, Director & CTO (X-Ray)
Bala is a post graduate electrical Engineer with

specialization in power electronics. He has
over 19 years of experience in product design
and development with vast experience in
design of X-ray generators, Induction heaters,
AC and DC drives, DC-DC & DC-AC power
supplies, traction drives and solid state power
supplies. During his career spanning 19 years,
Bala has worked in some of the well known
Indian companies and multinationals like NGEF, Kirloskar Electric, GE Health care and BPL
healthcare.
His leadership and technical skills combined with focus on process oriented development
made significant contribution to these organizations. He worked as a Principal engineer and
was in charge of the X-ray generator design center of GE health care in India. Bala also
worked as the General manager for R&D division of BPL healthcare before joining Skanray
technologies as one of the founding directors.
Bala has five patents against his name filed in Japan and US.
A Kasi Vishwanathan, Director & Image-Processing Lead.
Kasi holds a doctorate degree in MRI

(physical chemistry) and is an expert in the
field of MRI, NMR pulse-sequence designing
& programming, Image processing and Image
reconstruction. . Kasi has six papers published
under his name in international journals and
another 12 papers as presentations in the field
of MRI-Research. As a Research Associate in
Fox Cancer Center, Philadelphia US, he was
involved in programs related to MR
Spectroscopy with hands on experience in applications developed in FORTRAN, C, IDL and

Matlab. Holding the position of Junior Research Officer in AIIMS Delhi, he was in charge of
5-research projects in collaboration with INMAS, IIT-Delhi, and JNU. He was also in charge
of developing prototype in C++ for image segmentation analysis and spiral scan MRI.
Kasi was later the Senior Application Specialist in GE Medical Systems India in charge of
team delivery on MR application development for 4-years. He was part of the image
reconstruction team who implemented automated phased array coil correction sequence, for
which he received exemplary employee of the year award for bug-less feature delivered. As
the Founder director of Picavox Technologies, he developed and delivered a FDA approved
product for Nuclear Medicine. He also developed an indigenous DICOM solution with 3D
processing such as MPR, Volume Rendering called Pica-X-Station.
Kasi has three patents on MRI and medical image processing, another two under Precise
Intelligent Guide Arm (an image guided biopsy device developed in Perfint Healthcare). An
invention disclosure on the same is submitted for approval.
H R Alva, Chairman of Business Council
In his decades of association with the State and

Central government, Mr. Alva has been a consultant
on Industrial, Infrastructure and HR Policies. He had
served as an Executive Director of Nagarjuna,
Chairman of HPF, and Director Personal in HMT,
Director of ITI, President of CII and a Member of
Task Force for the Govt. of Karnataka.
Prof. Ramnarayan, Technical Director
Prof. Ramnarayan has served as the Chairman and HOD of Electrical Engineering
department in the Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore. He is an authority in the field of
power electronics, drives, switched mode power conversion and controls. He has published
several research papers and has guided many doctoral & research students. He is currently a
professor in the Electrical Engineering department of Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore,
and had served as R&D chief of L&T and Manager R&D at NGEF.

A member of the founding team, Raju is a graduate in Electrical and Electronics engineering.
He brings in more than 14 years of industrial experience in the fields of New Product
Introduction, Program Management, Power converters Product Design Engineering, Process
Engineering and ISO-QMS to make the execution of various programs in Skanray smooth.
As a Design Engineer for Kirloskar Electric Company, Raju was responsible for designing
and testing of overall Power scheme for the Mid-Powered UPS systems. In his role as a
Project Leader in GE Healthcare Bangalore, Raju was involved in Technology transfer and
Manufacturing introduction of X-ray generators platform for use in CT and Radiography
applications. Raju is also a Certified Six-Sigma Green Belt and has awareness in ISO -
Quality Management System, Global regulatory compliance.
