8. INSTALLATION OF PILE

8.1 Preparation and Finish Work

8.1.1 Setting Out

Location of all piles shall be set out at the points designated on the
engineering drawings.
8.1.2 Pile Cut Off
The pile head shall be cut off within ±100 mm (with ± 12 mm tolerance)
from designed level as shown on the engineering drawings. A suitable
means and tools, which subject to EMPLOYER/ EMPLOYER’S
PERSONNEL approval, shall be used for cutting the piles in order to
prevent the piles from damages during pile cutting. Extended rebar shall
be provided as shown on the engineering drawing.

8.2 Drilling and Concreting Work

8.2.1 Drilling Work

Unless the SUBCONTRACTOR has his own method and approved by
PGAS SOLUTION and EMPLOYER/ EMPLOYER’S PERSONNEL as
stated in section 7.1, the drilling work execution below shall be as follows:

a. Prior to drilling work, in some area SUBCONTRACTOR shall perform

existing concrete pavement demolishing. In some case, it should
also including manual excavation down to 1.5 to 2.5 meters depth
and pre-boring using auger with diameter less than 250 mm to check
the underground pipes or cables position. During excavation, sloping
and/or shoring may required to prevent soil colapses.

b. Timber blocks and steel plates for equipment padding should be

provided in order to avoid direct heavy load distribution towards
underground pipes or cables, if any.

c. Temporary fence should be provided at limited area of drilling work

d. Temporary drainage shall be provided, the water mud from wash

boring shall be drained to proper place. Sump pit shall be provided
when required.

e. SUBCONTRACTOR shall drill the soil with standard auger and/or

bucket.

f. For the hard soil level, the auger or bucket shall be equipped with
tungsten carbide teeth. In case the soil is too hard to drilled, the soil
should be broken by chisel before employing the teeth auger or teeth
bucket.

g. The tip of borehole shall be penetrated to soil layer within design

depth as per engineering drawing.

h. In order to avoid the soil collapse, the following method may be

applied, depend on the ground condition.
- Install a temporary steel pipe casing at the entire part of drilled
shaft properly. The SUBCONTRACTOR shall propose the length
of steel pipe casing for PGAS SOLUTION and EMPLOYER /
EMPLOYER’S PERSONNEL approval.
- Install a temporary steel pipe casing at the upper part of drilled
shaft and filling slurry mud (bentonite or others) into drilling shaft.
The SUBCONTRACTOR shall propose alternate products of
slurry mud and its specifications/procedures for EMPLOYER /
EMPLOYER’S PERSONNEL approval.

i. Soon after boring work is finish, concrete work shall be commenced.

j. Casing shall be use during concreting to prevent soil erotion.

8.2.2 Concreting

a. Prior to concrete pouring, the bottom of borehole shall be cleaned out

from sedimentation of mud, soil or other foreign material.

b. Install fabricated rebar cage into bore hole as specified on

engineering drawing.

c. Considering the ground condition (refer to bore logs),

SUBCONTRACTOR shall consider the necessity of using concrete
pump for injecting concrete starting from the bottom of bored pile hole
through concrete tremie/hose in order to avoid any necking/narrowing
of pile shaft.

d. In concrete pouring, a tremie pipe shall be used to reach the bottom

of hole in order to avoid possible concrete material segregation. The
tip of tremie pipe shall be embedded in concrete at least 300mm to
prevent mud, water or slurry which already in the bore hole from
disturbing the poured concrete

e. Concreting shall be continued until the top of concrete reaches to about

100 mm above cut off level of pile indicated on engineering drawing.
f. 9 (nine) cubical/cylindrical concrete samples for compressive strength
test shall be taken first time at the beginning of concrete pouring, the
second time at approximately the midded of concrete pouring, and
the third time from the last pouring concrete mix inside the drilled
shaft, each 3 (three) of them are used for 7 days, 14 days and 28
days test, respectively. Concrete testing shall conform to specification
for concrete work doc. No. MJPN-PGAS-3514-CV-SP-007.

g. The age of strength test, unless otherwise specified shall be 7, 14

and 28 days.

9. INSPECTION

9.1 Countermeasures shall be immediately taken for piles damaged below the cut-
off
elevation during pile cutting, which may include repair of pile or other method
approved by EMPLOYER/ EMPLOYER’S PERSONNEL.

9.2 Pile groups (if any) shall be bored from the interior outward to provide the
accessibility of drilling-machine.

9.3 The Subcontractor shall plan the bore pile work, so that harmful disturbance of
the adjacent existing facilities, structures, etc. does not occur by the drilling and
concreting operations. The Subcontractor shall submit the bored pile work
planning to PGAS SOLUTION to get the EMPLOYER / EMPLOYER’S
PERSONNEL approval prior to commence the work.

9.4 In case it is apply slurry mud, SUBCONTRACTOR shall inspect and report the
