Subject :
Force on the Padeye of Principle tower pipe 500NB By :
References : API RP 2A and AISC Checked :

The following values are taken from INPUT Drawing for the mentioned monitor tower,

Total principle tower pipe Length = 12000 mm

(Pad eye should be welded on the principle tower pipe)

Distance of the padeye from the end of the

tower pipe = 2500 mm
Weight of the principle tower pipe ,W = 20 kN (taken from staad output)
Load Factor = 2
Calculating distances w.r.t COG,

Distance of COG from Lifting Lug ,L1 = 3500.0 mm

Distance of COG from lifting lug,L2 = 3500.0 mm

Total Distance L1+L2 = L = 7000.0 mm (C/C distance)

Calculating the forces at the lifting points,

Sum of forces, P1+P2 = w, w = 20 kN

Factored Load W = 40 kN
Taking moment at the P2 point, P1 = W*L2/(L1+L2)

Vertical force at Lifting Lug, P1 = 20.000 KN

Vertical force at lifting lug P2 = W - P1 P2 = 20.000 KN
