Creo Information

Creo is a family or suite of Computer-aided design (CAD) apps supporting


product design 1or discrete manufacturers and is developed by PTC. The suite
consists of apps, each delivering adistinct set of capabilities for a user role
within product development.

Creo runs on MicrOsoft Windows and provides apps for 3D CAD parametric
feature solidmodeling, 3D direct modeling, 2D orthographic views, Finite
Element Analysis andSimulation, schematic design, technical illustrations, and
viewing and visualization.

Creo Elements and Creo Parametric compete directly with CATIA, Siemens
NX/Solidedge, and SolidWorks. The Creo suite of apps replace and supersede
PTC's products formerly known as Pro/ENGINEER, CoCreate, and Product
View. Creo has many different software package solutions and features. Creo
Illustrate is a good example.

PTC began developing Creo in 2009, and announced it using the code name
Project Lightning at PlanetPTC Live, in Las Vegas, in June 2010.[2] In October
2010, PTC unveiled the product name for Project Lightning to be Creo.[3] PTC
released Creo 1.0 in June 2011.[4]

Creo apps are available in English, German, Russian, French, Italian, Spanish,
Japanese, Korean, Chinese Simplified, and Chinese Traditional. The extent of
localization varies from full translation of the product (including Help) to user
interface only.

Creo is part of a broader product development system developed by PTC. It


connects to PTC's other solutions that aid product development, including
Windchill for Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), Mathcad for engineering
calculations and Arbortext for enterprise publishing software.

2D Drawing Information
A 2D drawing is a drawing that sits in only the X and Y axis. More simply,a 2D
drawing is flat and has a width and length but no depth or thickness.There is no
shade and shadow and therefore little realism in a 2Ddrawing.Sep 3, 2014

Creo Layout is an easy-to-use 2D CAD app that lets your product designteam
create detailed concepts in 2D, complete with information such aPTCCreo
Layout2s dimensions and annotations.

You can then produce equally detailed 3D models from the same 2D
datawithout having to switch CAD systems or hand off 2D data to 3D CADD
specialists. Instead, you leverage their 2D data to produce flawless 3D models
that accurately reflect your original design intent. And by automating the
process, you can be confident that your CAD deliverables will be seamlessly
updated on a continuous basisS.

Creo Layout Features and Benefits:


Creo Layout generates 2D designs to build 3D models in Creo Parametric
Capture product design intent with a full-featured set of tools for creating,
editing and managing 2D geometry Gain flexibility and iterate design concepts
easily by ereating 2D designs that are fully or partially constrained, or
completely unconstrained avoid errors and delays by reducing the need to
interpret and recreate 2D designs in 3D Leverage existing 2D data such as
DWG, DXF and IGES files, as well as cross-sections of 3D models created with
Creo Parametric software. Accelerate time-to-market and encourage innovation

by enabling concurrent design and engineering of new products. Leverage 2D


drawings for downstream design of structures and asemblies Manage
propagation of changes from 2D design to 3D models using da controls.

3D Drawing Information
In 3D computer graphics, 3D modeling is the process of developing a
mathematical representation of any surface of an object (either inanimate or
living) in three dimensions via specialized software. The product is called a 3D
model. Someone who works with 3D models may be referred to as a 3D artist.
It can be displayed as a two-dimensional image through a process called 3D
rendering or used in a computer simulation of physical phenomena. The model
can also be physically created using 3D printing devices.

Models may be created automatically or manually. The manual modeling


process of preparing geometric data for 3D computer graphics is similar to
plastic arts such as sculpting. 3D modeling software is a class of 3D computer
graphics software used to produce 3D models. Individual programs of this class
are called modeling applications or modelers.
