DIFFERENCE BETWEEN REAL NUMBERS AND

IMAGINARY NUMBERS

What are Real Numbers?

Real numbers include all rational, positive, negative, integers

Irrational numbers.

What are Imaginary Numbers?

Imaginary numbers are complex numbers that can be written as a

real number multiplied by imaginary unit i, which is defined by its

property.

Example
COMPLEX NO. BASIC FORM PARTS

4i+9 9+4i 9 is the real part and 4is

the imaginary part

2i 0+2i 0 is the real part and 9

Is the imaginary part

6i-8 -8+6i -8 is the real part and

6 is the imaginary

9+7i 9+7i 9 is the real part and 7

is the imaginary

0i 0+0i 0 is the real part and 0

0 is the imaginary part

Argand plane
The diagram or the points of the argand plane can only be ploted with the
help of complex no in the form of

Z=X+IY

We can also plot the complex number on the plane called a

Argand plane or complex plane. Similar to X axis and Y axis in two
Dimensional geometry

There are two axis is arand plane

1. The axis which is horizontal called real axis.

2. The axis which is vertical called imaginary axis.

The complex number x+iy which correspond to the ordered pair

(x,y)Is represented geometrically as the unique point (x,y) in the

XY Plane

Example .1

 Plot -2+3i on argand plane

Step1. Take -2 as a real part and 3 as the imaginary part.

Step2. Move along horizontal line as the real part and vertical line
as the imaginary part.

Step3. Plot the points
