1. INTRODUCTION
• Design begins with the introduction of conceptual
elements which are the primary elements of form
in the order of their growth :
1. from the point to a 1-dimensional line,
2. From the line to the 2-dimensional plane
3. From the plane to the 3-dimensional volume.

• These elements become form with substance,

shape, size, colour & texture.

14. CONCLUSION

• This presentation discussed only the basic elements

of architectural design for students to begin their
understanding on architectural design.

• As we experience these forms in our environment,

we should be able to perceive the existence of the
primary elements of point, line, plane & volume in
the architectural design of buildings.
