COMMISSIONING AND TESTING

NOVEC EXTINGUISHING SYSTEM

WARNING

1. Control heads must be removed from NOVEC cylinders and


nitrogen pilot cylinders prior to testing to avoid accidental cylinder
discharge.

2. Control Heads must have safety caps installed immediately when


discharge hoses or valve outlet adapter is disconnected.

3. Disconnect wiring for shutdown of HVAC or Gas Turbine.

PROCEDURES

1. The entire NOVEC System should be completely inspected.

A). AGENT SUPPLY

Check and Write o.k. if normal x if not.

*Pressure ( )

(If pressure gauge indicates a


pressure loss of more than 10%, it
must be recharged.)

*Weight of NOVEC ( )

(If weight loss is more than 5%, the


unit must be recharged with
NOVEC gas)
* Containers Corroded ( )

(If containers are found to be corroded


it must be serviced and changed).

* Containers Bracketing ( )

* Containers Supports ( )

(Supports or brackets shall be changed if there is


corrosion if not fitted with the cylinders)

B). PIPING AND NOZZLES

Check and Write o.k. if normal x if not.

a). Piping should be examined for any evidence of


corrosion.

Pipes Normal ( )
(If found with corrosion, the pipes must be
changed).

b). Nozzles should be checked to determine that the


orifices are clear and unobstructed.
Nozzles not blocked ( )

(If blocked the obstruction must be removed).

c). Nozzles should be checked for proper alignment.

(If not it should be properly aligned).
2. Fire Detection and Alarm System for NOVEC System

A). Detection, Alarm and Actuation.


B). Stand-By Power Supply.
C). Battery Test

A. Detection, Alarm And Actuation

Check and Write o.k. if normal x if not.

a). All detectors are to be checked for proper


alarm, supervision and trouble functions.

*Photo/Thermal Smoke Detectors ( )

b). Key Maintenance Switch

* Auto Mode

B. STAND-BY POWER SUPPLY

(If the voltage output of the charger are


found to be less than 24 V DC or not
charging, the System must be serviced or
changed).

C. BATTERY TEST

Disconnect the AC power for 72 hours ( )


and simulate alarm for 30 minutes using
battery only.
NOTE:
Battery Test shall be conducted separately.
