great success in your second year. You want to prevent behaviour problems by doing what
effective teachers do. Explain FIVE (5) methods on how you want to increase students
engaged time (or time on task) effectively. Provide one example for each method.

during lesson and utilizing overlapping skill.

maintaining the group focus is by using choral responses from the students. Fourthly, is I
would randomly call students from time to time by questioning them regarding the lesson
taught. For me, I think this is one of the most crucial method to keep on track on individuals’
attention in class. Other than the fact that the students would always stay alert in class, in
case their names were suddenly called, I as the teacher, could also evaluate the individuals’
current performances and such as well as examine if he/she needs extra attention or assist
from time to time for the targeted lessons. Example, I would try to reach out to low-achieving
students and ask them about the use of correct past tense for the word ‘walk’. By having
group focus and randomly calling students, I am sure that these would minimise disruptions
happening in class.

Imagine walking into your first day of teaching. What would build your confidence to teach?
Explain FIVE (5) qualities that you should possess and how you apply them in your
own classroom.
Walking into my first day of teaching, the five qualities that I should possess are that I
have to always motivate myself in creating a cheerful and engaging environment in my class,
remind myself to organize a good time management between me and the students, knows
and meets the students’ needs, engage with professional development and lastly, I have to
always accept criticism from others regarding how I teach.
Thirdly, is that I have to know and meet exactly what my current student needs. I
definitely can not gain what my students need on the first day of teaching, but by developing
conscious mutual relationship with them as a teacher, I would probably slowly get in touch
with what they need and this is most certainly would help myself as a teacher, to assist them
well. The application for this quality might take quite a while yet if I knew what my students
needed, I would always have my extra attention on them and help assist them if they need
any help with the certain topic. If some of my students are shy, I would not hesitate to
