1. OBJECTIVE:
Smooth functional change of SAC in IAC.

2. SCOPE:
This SOP is applicable for 4 no. of Service air Compressor.

3. INTRODUCTION:
During the emergency condition when IAC is not available for any
reason we can produce instrument air from service air compressor
using the dryer of IAC and compressor of SAC. Changeover is only
possible in the connected Instrument air compressor and service air
compresssor i.e. between (IAC 1A & SAC 1B), (IAC 2A & SAC 2B), (IAC
3A & SAC 3B) and (IAC 4A & SAC 4B).

4. RESPONSIBILITY:
Unit Control Engineer, Desk Engineer and Field Operator.

5. SAFETY PRECAUTIONS:
Field Operator ensures no permit to work is pending on regarding this
system by checking with CCR.

6. SAFETY PPE’S:
Ear Plugs, Safety Goggles, Hand Gloves, Helmet etc.

7. STEPS FOLLOWED
 STEP 1:- Close SAC 1B service air outlet valve.

 STEP 2:- Close IAC 1A compressed air outlet valve.

 STEP 3:- Open Air Dryer air outlet valve of IAC 1A.

 STEP 4 :- Open the valve between the IAC 1A and SAC 2B

(pneumatic valve & MIV)

 STEP 5 :- Open the regeneration valve of SAC 1B & close

regeneration valve of IAC-1A.

 STEP 6 :- Changeover & Switch ON the connection of dryer

motor from SAC 1A control panel.

 STEP 7 :- Check the power supply and SAC 1A compressor

cooling water inlet and outlet pressure before starting the
compressor.

 STEP 8 :- Start the compressor by removing the EPB &

switching it ON .

1. Note:- Ensure that the Dryer motor is rotating while the compressor
is on load
