Cerebral Palsy

Cerebral palsy the most common

childhood physical disability strikes
approximately 2.5 of every 1000 live
term berths and increases to 22 of every
1000 live premature births. Diagnosis of
Cerebral Palsy (CP) refers to problems
with neural control of motor function,
which leads to complication in behavior,
learning, communication epilepsy,
vision, hearing, perception and
sensation.*

Thalassemia Major

Thalassemia syndromes are a heterogeneous group of single

gene disorders, inherited in an autosomal recessive manner,
prevalent in certain parts of the world. Worldwide, 15 million
people have clinically apparent thalassemic disorders. Every
year approximately 100,000 children with Thalassemia Major
are born world over, of which 10,000 are born in India.*

Brain Tumor

The cause of most primary brain tumours is unknown, research

into this is ongoing. Brain tumours, like other tumours, are not
infectious and can't be passed on to other people. They are
slightly more common in men than in women. In the year 2006
at TATA Memorial Hospital in Mumbai, India 372 people were
diagnosed with Brain and Central Nervous System Tumours, out
of which 250 (67%) were males and 122 (33%) were females.*
