WORK INSTRUCTION: REVERSE BEND
TEST

1.0 Applicable Elements of Standard:

ASTM A 370-17a.
2.0 SCOPE:
This test is conducted to determine the ability of metallic wire of 0.30mm to
10.00mm diameter/thickness to undergo plastic deformation during reverse
bending.

3.0 Procedure:

1. Refer customer’s/client’s letter for material specification & requirements.

2. Measure the dimensions of wire. Record it in the test record form.
3. Cut a piece sufficient in length. Hold the same between two cylindrical
supports appropriate to the diameter of wire. The specimen should be
held perpendicular to the axis of the cylindrical supports.
4. Bend the specimen cold, through 90 ° alternatively in opposite directions,
uniformly without any shock.
5. If specified, the bending shall be continued till the specimen fractures.
6. Record the observations in the Test Record Form PM/MEC/FR/001
