Hello everybody, my name is Thenh. I am in class 12A7 at Minh Ha high school.

Today, I
will talk about the difference between American culture and Vietnamese culture.
The first is family culture. In America, two generations live under one roof. In Vietnam,
two, three, or even four generations live under one roof. In America, elderly parents live
in nursing homes, but in Vietnam, they live with their children.
The second is food culture. In their meals, Americans often use knives, forks, and
plates, while Vietnamese use chopsticks, spoons, bowls, or cups. Americans only have
one main meal, dinner, when family members gather together.
The third is greeting culture. Americans often shake hands and give a light kiss on the
cheek of the opposite person when greeting. In contrast, in Vietnam, when greeting
someone, including family members, people often do not act intimately.
The last is an important holiday. For Americans, Christmas and New Year are the most
important. But for Vietnamese people, the Lunar New Year is the most important when
everyone is reunited, gathered, and summed up at the end of the year.
