Evaluate a public place. Suggest how it could be made more appealing.

Ben Thanh market, located in the center of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam in district 1,
has become one of the earliest surviving structures in Saigon and an important
symbol of the city. In this essay, I am going to discuss some of the main
characteristics of the Ben Thanh market, as well as why people are attracted by it
and possible improvements.

Firstly, Ben Thanh Market is a popular tourist attraction for both locals and visitors
from all over the world because it combines all sorts of items from budget to luxury
goods, including delicious food, seasonal fruits, appliances, shoes, souvenirs.
Nevertheless, foreign tourists have to encounter a complicated problem which is
the price of products. For example, when the local people buy a product for $3 but
when the foreigners purchase the same product, it will cost about $5. The reason
is from the sellers, they think that these foreign visitors are wealthy and the visitors
do not also get a deeper understanding about the product’s price in market so the
sellers will increase the cost. Consequently, the appropriate solution is that
foreigners ought to find information carefully about the item’s cost before buying.
Furthermore, they should negotiate with the sellers so as to not only get a
reasonable price, but they may also save the amount of money. Besides, the
sellers need to trade goods for the foreign visitors fairly so as to make the market
more reliable and people will come back again.

Secondly, when the dark falls down, Ben Thanh Night Market will be opened and a
large number of businesspeople put up tents on the two sides of Ben Thanh
Market. Moreover, people may find different types of items such as footwear,
jewelry, especially Vietnamese street food like Bun Bo, Banh Xeo, or minimal
steam cakes. Another interesting thing is that visitors can stand at a food stall in
order to watch the chef cook your meal before eating it. However, despite selling
many sorts of things, foreign visitors may find it difficult to pay in cash. The reason
is that when they are tourists, withdrawing cash from local ATMs costs toll fees
and it may be inconvenient when they keep their money. Therefore, vendors
should use QR code readers in their stores so that visitors can use smartphones to
transfer money easily instead of holding money in their hands to buy. In a little
more detail, every seller needs to set up QR code readers apps and write down
that visitors could use these apps to pay. Moreover, vendors may use card swipe
machines so that people can use their credit cards to pay due to the fact that many
foreign visitors have these cards when traveling.

In conclusion, trading goods fairly, using QR code readers and card swipe
machines are good methods to make Ben Thanh Market more appealing and it will
become the modern market. For the ways I have mentioned above, it seems to me
that Ben Thanh Market will be likely to attract a lot of tourists around the world
when using these ways.
