MOTIVATION IN SECOND LANGUAGE ACQUISITION

Motivation is an integral part of learning in a second Language. It is

learning how to keep on being motivated that is the key to language fluency, is often

defined as the psychological quality that leads people to achieve a goal, The goal for

language learners is mastery of a language.

motivation in a second language as well as in a foreign language is very important or

whatever we do needs motivation to move your goal forward. when learners want to

get what you want you can get it by encouraging it when learners want to learn a

language If you don't try to learn that language you can't learn So whatever you do

needs motivation, you may not have the opportunity to work with English speakers,

usually not here, the role model plays a strong role in learning English and may not be

widespread.

Complete social consent to the idea of engaging in English because of that

imperfection Conditions, a student does not write to be successful in learning English,

encouragement is also an important contributor to language acquisition in terms of as

a result of linguistics, That Traditionally in the embrace of the structure of language

knowledge, in the sense of words, grammar and Language and four basic language

skills, including listening, understanding, reading And writing a good teacher will

provide motivations for his or her students.

Intrinsic and Extrinsic Motivation There are two types of Intrinsic / Extrinsic

stimuli both types of motivation play an important role in learning and lack of

motivation can lead to Not achieving your goal.

2
Intrinsic motivation When you want to learn English, the learners always motivation

yourself from the inside out. Learners always make things easier for yourself. Never

give up you will always be ready to help yourself. When no one is there to encourage

you to get what you want, you can encourage yourself to do what you want. and every

learner is motivation when he or she wants to learn a language, to learn that language

he paints things beautifully so that he can achieve his goal. internally rewarding

consequences feelings of competence and self-determination.an intrinsically

motivated language learner may desire to become an excellent speaker of the target

language, due to a personal desire to excel.

Extrinsic Motivation The difference between this and an internal stimulus is that

your surroundings motivate you to move ahead with what you want, when you have

no hope or effort you will not be able to move ahead with what you want so your

surroundings will motivate you and help you. Anticipation of reward from (outside

and beyond the self when the teacher makes it easy for you it will also help you how

to speak English or how to be able to communicate as an English speaker, that is why

the teacher always encourages his students to move forward before the language level.

Teachers need to know what kind of incentives and resources to provide to students to

meet their specific needs. better language skills will lead to getting higher paying or

more prestigious employment.

Instrumental motivation when a student is studying just to get a job, it doesn't matter

if he or she progresses in English or not, that means you don't care about learning, you

just want to have a certificate and get a job. Unfortunately, this is especially true in

Kurdistan, where many people study just to get a job, which means they don't care

what they learn, their only goal is to get a job.

3
Integrative Motivations When a student wants to learn a language, he or she really

tries to learn that language. To be able to speak or understand foreign people when

traveling, for example, when watching a movie or listening to a song, you can

understand, that people who really like the English language without thinking about

getting a job. They just want to learn the language for their own pleasure and be able

to understand or speak to foreigners.

Resultative Motivation a kind of motivation which is the result of learning process,

the motivation that learners develop as a result of their success in learning an L2.

In Conclusion motivation is the most important factor in achieving a second language.

There is also a reason why people want to be motivation in a second language, as I

mentioned. People just want to learn the language for work, and people just want to

learn that language for their own sake, motivation is also very important for teachers

and students. Teachers can also help students to motivation in second language as

well as take different paths and make it easier for students to try.
