Preventing Child Abuse

In Malaysia, child abused are not something common among the society. However, Malaysian
people are rarely care and decide not to intervene in taking preventive action against child abuse.
This kind of mindset and attitude need to be change to help the children to regain their rights. As
has been said by Sim and Choo, this frame of mind towards child maltreatment need to be
improved. He stated that the society must have knowledge about topic of childhood
development, childhood trauma, consequences of child maltreatment and children right to
prevent child abuse. In that case, the society will become more responsible for suppress child
abuse by reporting suspected child abuse case.

Malaysian citizen should understand the important of child abuse prevention. The government
should do documentaries about child maltreatment and information about the effect of child
maltreatment and risk awareness of disabled children can implant enough parenting skills in
society. In Krug et al opinion, those kind of media activities can inform families of their
