My topic is time management

As it is rightly said by Thomas Edison "Time is really the only capital that any human being
has, and the only thing he can't afford to lose."
In today’s scenario people are so busy in their lives that they are not getting time for
themselves. Due to which time management has become the need of the hour and is playing a
vital role in mankind. If you want to be successful in life then you need to manage your time.
In our daily life, we have got only twenty-four hours in a day. Therefore, we cannot do
everything in one day. This creates limitations in our everyday work. In order to manage
work, social life and sleep, division of time is important.
In order to manage my time effectively, I set priorities and goals when planning my day. I
tend to complete those tasks first that are close to the deadlines because I believe that
finishing my work beforehand will reduce the unnecessary stress that is caused later. I believe
to focus on one task at a time because true efficiency comes from focusing on one thing at a
time and finishing it before moving on to the next task.
Now I would like to talk about the few tips that I follow to effectively manage my time.
Firstly, I set my goals correctly that are specific, measurable, attainable, relevant and timely
because knowing your goals and achieving them are two sides of a coin.
Then, I prioritise the tasks wisely based on importance and urgency so that each and every
task gets completed on the assigned time. If I talk about my journey in PGDM, time
management plays a very crucial role because as we are flooded with assignments and
projects, it is necessary to take note of time that each task takes. I plan my tasks according to
deadlines to keep myself updated and most importantly to follow a proper routine.
I often set time limit to complete a task because it helps me to be more focused and efficient.
Making the small extra effort to decide on how much time I need to allot for each task also
helps me recognize potential problems before they arise and that way, I can always make
plans for dealing with them.
Staying organised helps me to keep track of my responsibilities and priorities, like what I
need to do first and when to do the rest of it. An organised list of tasks acts as a map to guide
me from morning to evening and helps increase my productivity. For example: in my school
days I organise and set a proper schedule that needs to be done in one whole day and it
eventually became my habit to complete my tasks on that day itself to learn the course topics
side by side in order to avoid last minute chaos.
Planning is the core of time management. With a proper plan, I can prioritise my tasks
accordingly, which can help avoid confusion and unnecessary stress.
I learned the real importance of time management during my graduation days when it was my
first exam. On that day, I was travelling by metro and my friend called me up to wait for him
at the station but few minutes later I realised that already a lot of time has passed but he
didn’t arrive. By the time he arrived at the station it was too late but somehow, we managed
to reach at the centre on sharp 10 am but unfortunately didn’t turn up for the examination.
That day I learned a lesson to keep track of every second and to manage a proper schedule.
This incident gave me a lesson that if someone wants to excel in life, one should respect the
importance of time and find a way to manage it efficiently. It also taught me that proper time
management allows you to be creative and proactive with your goals.
I believe that when you manage your time properly and successfully meet your deadlines,
you’ll feel a sense of accomplishment and confidence in your abilities. Effective time
management allows us to complete more in less time, because our attention is focused and we
are not wasting time on distractions.

Taking the time to research, plan and think about your work is crucial for good time
management. Allow yourself the time to process new information and plan how you are
going to use it.
