Credit Hour: 3
Course Category: Core
Prerequisite Course: N/A
Rationale: Introduction to Statistics is a core course offered to BBA students of most of the universities
in Bangladesh and all around the globe. This course will aid to understand the fundamental concepts and
methods of statistics. How it interpret graphical and numerical summaries of data. Understand the
reasoning behind the calculations, the assumptions under which they are valid, and the correct
interpretation of results
Course Objective:
The main objective of this course is to understand about statistical system and statistical approach, train
up students as a statistician. It also helps to know the importance of statistics in business. Improve
planning & decision making ability of student with statistical knowledge etc.
Learning outcome: Upon completion of this course, 1. Students shall know how to organize, manage,
and present data.2. Show ability to organize data for appropriate statistical analysis by using central
tendency, dispersion, correlation and regression analysis. . 3. Show ability to effectively display the
information in data sets graphically.
Teaching-Learning Strategy: Interactive teaching learning strategies are formulated to conduct the
course. Class Lecture, Case studies .
Assessment Strategy: Written Examination, Class test, Quiz test etc.
Course Description:
A course dealing with statistical concepts including measures of central tendency and dispersion,
probability distributions, Sampling, Estimation, Hypothesis testing, Analysis of Variance, Correlation and
Regression analysis, Multiple Regression and Statistical Forecasting.
