Morillo

Course and year: BSMT-3A

Subject: Environmental Science

Class schedule: 1:00pm - 2pm (MWF)

Learning Activities

1. Explain why complex natural ecosystems are less vulnerable to harm from insects, plant
diseases and fungi than a simplified ecosystem such as monocultures and agroecosystems (e.g.,
rice fields).

Ans:

Becaus complex natural ecosystems is a Suitable temperature and moisture favour immense
growth of primary producers and tropical forests are biodiversity hot spots. And simplified
ecosystem are interacting with their physical and chemical environments thats why it's highly
vulnerable to be affected in plant diseases and fungi.

2. What is the role of energy in the ecosystem?

Ans:

The energy roles within an ecosystem are producer, consumer, and decomposer. Organisms that make
their own food by using the sun's energy to turn water and carbon dioxide into food through a process
called photosynthesis. Producers are the sources of all the food in an ecosystem

3. Observe some selected ecosystem (lawn, river, fish pond, or a field) and construct food chain,
food web and food pyramid. Show through illustrations (your own drawings, or pictures).

Ans:
4. Explain the concept of biomagnification and comment on how vulnerable the humans are
being on the top of the food chain.

Ans:

Biomagnification is the accumulation of a chemical by an organism from water and food exposure
that results in a concentration that is greater than would have resulted from water exposure only and
thus greater than expected from equilibrium.

because they eat plants and animals of all kinds but are not eaten consistently by any animals. The
human food chain starts with plants. Plants eaten by humans are called fruits and vegetables, and when
they eat these plants, humans are primary consumers.
