Girindrashekhar Bose (1887-
1953), physician and pioneering
psychoanalyst, was born in
Nadia district in Bengal. After
completing a B.Sc. from
Presidency College in 1905, he
obtained his medical degree from
Calcutta Medical College in 1910.
In 1911, he began a decade-long
correspondence with Sigmund
Freud on cultural variations in
psychoanalytic concepts. In 1922,
Girindrashekhar founded the
Indian Psychoanalytic Society in
Calcutta. His major works include
Everyday Psychoanalysis and The
Irasindhur Jadukar

beginning of several new trends
