Housing and Urban Affairs Secretary Durga Shankar Mishra was appointed as the Chief Secretary of Uttar
Pradesh on 29 Dec 2021.

Tamil Nadu government unveiled New Policy for Women 2021
Tamil Nadu government has unveiled Tamil Nadu State New Policy for Women 2021 (Draft) on 30 Dee
2021.
This policy will be implemented for more than five years.
The proposed policy calls for the creation of a victim support system for all cases of abuse, with such a
concentration on rehabilitation and identifying protection in the first step, to prevent women from feeling
disearded.

Indonesia lifts ban on Boeing 737 Max after 2018 Lion Air crash
Indonesia has lifted a ban on the Boeing 737 Max, more than three years after the Lion Air disaster that saw
the loss of all 189 people on board.
The aireraft was grounded globally after a similarly deadly accident in March 2019 involving one of the
aircraft operated by Ethiopian Airlines.
Ethiopian Airlines will also resume such flights in February 2022.

Mohammed Shami has become the fifth Indian pacer to take 200 Test wickets.
Shami achieved the feat against South Africa in Centurion on 29 Dec 2021.
Shami has joined Kapil Dev, Javagal Srinath, Zaheer Khan, and Ishant Sharma in the elusive list.
Shami reached the milestone in 55 Test matches and is the third quickest Indian after Kapil and Srinath to
join the list.

RBI approves Rajeev Ahuja’s name as interim MD & CEO of RBL Bank
Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has approved the appointment of Rajeev Ahuja as Interim Managing Director
& CEO of the bank for a period of three months or till the appointment of a regular MD & CEO.
The development came after its Chief exeeutive Vishwavir Ahuja went on immediate leave.
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) also appointed an additional director on the board of the private lender.

On this day, a national flag was hoisted for the first time on Indian soil, at Port Blair.

RBI extends restrictions imposed on PMC Bank until March 2022
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) extended the validity period of its directions imposed on Punjab and
Maharashtra Cooperative Bank (PMC) from January 1 to March 31, 2022, on December 28, 2021.
The RBI had taken over the board of PMC Bank in September 2019 after finding major financial
irregularities in the bank.
In Nov 2021, the RBI had issued a scheme to take over PMC Bank by Unity SFB.

Pakistan on December 29, 2021, announced that it has set up the first-ever body of Hindu leaders to take
care of the minority community's temples
The Ministry of Religious Affairs constituted the Pakistan Hindu Mandir Management Committee on the
pattern of the already working Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee.
Hindus form the biggest minority community in Pakistan.

Ross Taylor announces retirement from international cricket
New Zealand cricketer Ross Taylor announced his retirement from international cricket on December 30,

He made his debut back in 2006 and amassing 18,074 runs in 445 appearances ~ also the most by anyone
from his country.
He is also the first cricketer to play 100 matches in all three formats- Test, ODI and T20.
Taylor has scored the most runs for NZ in Tests (7584).

border guarding force SSB.

‘The Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) is primarily tasked to guard unfenced Indian borders with Nepal and

Ambassador of India to Mexico.

Pankaj Sharma will replace Mridul Kumar as the new ambassador.

Uttar Pradesh’s Jhansi railway station will now be known a ‘Veerangana Lakshmibai Railway Station’.
Laxmibai was one of the most famous leaders of rebellion during the British time.
She was killed in battle with British forces in Gwalior on June 18, 1858.
Earlier, UP government renamed Allahabad as Prayagraj, and the Mughalsarai Railway Station as Pandit
Deen Dayal Upadhyay Railway Station.
Sikkim Governor inaugurates road named after PM Narendra Modi
A second road linking Tsomgo lake and Nathula border pass with Gangtok renamed as ‘Narendra Modi
Marg’ was officially inaugurated by Sikkim Governor Ganga Prasad.
This road, constructed by Border Roads Organisation, has reduced the distance between Gangtok and
‘Tsomgo lake by 15 km.
Earlier itis called Jawaharlal Nehru Road.
Earlier, Motera cricket stadium, Gujarat, was named after PM Modi.

Egypt becomes 4th new member of New Development Bank of BRICS
India weleomed Egypt's entry as the fourth new member of the New Development Bank (NDB) that was
established by the BRICS countries in 2015.
The NDB admitted Bangladesh, United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Uruguay as its new members in
September 2021.
The BRICS (Brazil-Russia-India-China-South Africa) set up the bank to mobilize resources for
infrastructure and sustainable development projects.
