A. NATURE OF LIGHT
Light is a transverse, electromagnetic wave that can be seen by a
typical human. The wave nature of light was first illustrated
through experiments on diffraction and interference. Like all
electromagnetic waves, light can travel through vacuum. The
transverse nature of light can be demonstrated through
polarization.
In 1678, Christian Huygens (1629-1695) published Traité de la
Lumiere, where he argued in favor of the wave nature of light.
Huygens stated that an expanding sphere of light behaves as if
each point on the wave front were a new source of radiation of
the same frequency and phase

B. THE DUAL PROPERTIES OF LIGHT

Some it behaves like a particle (photon), which explain how light
travels in straight lines. Sometimes it behaves like a wave, which
explains how light bends (or diffracts) around an object. Scientist
accept the evidence that supports this dual nature of light (even
though it intuitively doesn’t make sense to us)

C. PROPERTIES OF LIGHT
The primary properties of visible light are intensity, propagation
direction, frequency or wavelength spectrum and polarization,
while its speed in a vacuum, 299 792 458 m/s, is one of the
fundamental constants is nature

D. TYPES OF RAYS USED IN IMAGE FORMATION

Convex (converging) lenses that can form either real or virtual
images, whereas concave (diverging) lenses can form only virtual
image. Real images are always inverted, but they can be either
larger or smaller than the object.
