The First Christmas Gift

Jesus is Our Light

What You Need: A string of Christmas lights

What To do:
Say: I love Christmas because it’s
Jesus’ birthday! And, I have a
special Christmas surprise for you
today, friends! Look!

Show string of lights to the children.

Say: Look, friends! What are these?

Children respond, “Christmas lights!”

Say: They are Christmas lights! And they’re shining really bright right
now in the light. But what do you think will happen if it’s dark?

Children respond, “They’ll shine bright!”

Turn off the lights.

Note: Be safe. Don’t turn lights off if it will be pitch black.

Say: They are shining very brightly! And, they remind me of


someone very special! Someone who is our very first Christmas
present. Who is it?
Children respond, “Jesus!”

Say: That’s right! Jesus stays with us, day and night, to shine a light
on what God is like!

Turn on the lights.

Look in the Bible! That’s one way Jesus can teach us. When you learn
from Jesus in the Bible, you’ll learn how to live God’s way

SAY TOGETHER: I look at Jesus!

QUESTIONS:

1. Who is our very first Christmas present?


(Jesus)

2. What does Jesus shine a light on,


day and night? (What God is like.)

Now let them sit down and watch the Bible Story with
you. Then the memory verse and Blinky (Life application)
and then sing songs together. End with a prayer.
