lyric of “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” foreshadows the
fact that she’s been hearing him all this time and i love
it. to a lesser extent the fact that isabela *seems* to be
talking about her current perfect life in a song all about
tragedies that bruno foretold is also foreshadowing,
because isabela is not satisfied and therefore might
consider bruno’s prophecy a tragedy, or a fluke.

so the outdoor eating scene in Encanto was the family

having like lunch or something and abuela said "we'll
think of how antonio's giQ can contribute to the
community" and that made me wonder

what does dolores' superhearing oRer to the

community? we see camilo's giQ being used mostly as
like a social thing (as opposed to luisa's being structure
based and isabela's like an aesthetic mood liQing
based use). julieta and pepa's have a much bigger
impact i'd say, but then what's dolores' giQ used for?

Discussion about the frog snow

In Ivar Forsling's Permanent Rain Press interview, he
discussed a couple of scenes between Wille and Erik
that didn't make the final cut. Here are the details:

Before they leave for Hillerska, Erik comes into Wille's

room while he's playing video games, and gives him
the frog prince snow globe. It's an especially touching
giQ because Wille had always wanted that snow globe
from Erik's belongings whilst growing up. (16:07 in the
interview)When Erik drives Wille to Hillerska, they sing
one of Erik's favourite songs, "Remember" by Seinabo
Sey. This is the same song that Simon and the choir
sing during the memorial service aQer Erik's death.

One of the themes of The Frog Prince is about

keeping your promises. The princess tries to back out
of her promise to the frog, but her father insists that
she maintain her integrity. As a result, the princess
ends up with her prince. Another theme is about

notes - this takes place just aQer the events of the

movie, so bruno is also here. actually a liKle less reader
action in this, so i might fuck around and make a part
2.

“Tío Bruno, read my prophecy next!” Camilo barrelled

into the room, gripping onto the older man’s ruana,
who practically choked on his own surprise.

“CACamilo, are you sure, mi sobrino?” Camilo nodded,

brown curls bouncing against his warm skin, pearly
whites peeking past his wide smile.

“Of course! If Dolores gets one, so do I! Ask about

(Y/N)!” Bruno laughed, awkward smile creeping onto
his face as he gently pried Camilo’s curled fingers
from the dark green fabric.

“Okay, but don’t hate the messenger.” He mumbled,

crouching down to relay the sand and leaves he had
just used for Dolores’ prophecy. Camilo flumped into
the circle of sand, shuRing forward eagerly as his
uncle sat himself in front of him. The leaves were set
alight, weaving a gentle stream of smoke into the air
as the sand began to raise, twirling around the pair in a
whirlwind of electricity.

Camilo’s eyes widened, darting to each and every vein

of green that spiked through the sand, not noticing
the furrowed brows of his uncle.

“I see you...” Bruno mumbled, Camilo whipping around

at his words. His eyes glowed a jade green, and Camilo
followed his gaze to a blurry image of himself in the
sand.

“Where’s (Y/N)?” He questioned, scouring the image

for anything other than his own face, blurring and at
some moments becoming unrecognisable. Bruno
lowered his eyes, expression pinching in a sullen
remorse.

“Lo siento, mi sobrino. It seems as though the two of

you grow apart.” Camilo went silent, smile fading from
his face.
“Oh.” The sand seWled once more, the young boy’s
fading until there was nothing leX. The two were silent
for a moment, Bruno refusing to look at Camilo and
Camilo deep in thought.

“Well,” he exclaimed, scrambling to his feet while his

liWle shoes slipped on the stone in Bruno’s
room, “beWer make sure she keeps smiling in the
mean time!” Bruno relaxed as Camilo bowed, beaming
grin exposing a liWle gap where a baby tooth had fallen
out. He turned to run out the room, legs unsteady in
his hurry.

Bruno sighed, sweeping the sand up with his hands,

gathering it into a small pile to the side of where he
was siWing. Camilo was a good kid, and he could only
hope that his prophecy was not one set in stone.

Hey, I just realized, Camilo's part in We Don't Talk

About Bruno is diRerent from the others - Pepa and
Felix tell a story about Bruno fucking up their wedding
day, Dolores explains that she can hear him talking to
himself and how the rest of the family struggled to
understand his prophecies, then her, Isabela and the
random villagers talk about prophecies Bruno gave
them. Compared to that, Camilo sounds like he's
wandered into the wrong song; he just gives a
description and throws in some generic creepy details.
It doesn't sound like he's telling Mirabel about their
uncle, it's like he's just trying to tell a spooky story to
scare his cousin.

Bruno vanished like a decade ago. Camilo and Mirabel

are both fiQeen.

Of course Camilo's part is diRerent! He hasn't seent

the man since he was five, he knows just as much as
Mirabel does! He's not really talking about his uncle as
a person, he's just making shit up based on what liKle
he remembers, plus whatever assumptions he's made
growing up with the knowledge that Bruno's a seer
that a lot of people blame for their misfortunes.

And that also aRects his description + transformations

- when Camilo turns into Bruno, the eyes are always
glowing green, because the glowing eyes probably
stuck in his memory more than how they normally
looked. And of course he thinks Bruno's seven feet tall
despite him actually being about the same height as
Mirabel. Camilo hasn't seen Bruno since he was five.
All adults look ridiculously tall at that age.
