People with DM have an anxiety level 20% higher than people without DM.
Anxiety disorders have a relationship with hyperglycemia in people with diabetes.
The results of the preliminary study found that when they were diagnosed with
diabetes, they had followed the doctor's recommendations but their blood sugar was
still difficult to control as a result they became anxious because of the disease which
could one day be life-threatening. The purpose of this study was to determine the
relationship between anxiety levels and blood sugar levels in people with Diabetes
Mellitus in Sangurara Health Center.
This type of analytic observation research, with a cross sectional design. The
population was all diabetes mellitus patients who were recorded at the Sangurara
Health Center as many as 579 people. The sample of this study were people with
Diabetes Mellitus taken based on the Slovin formula, namely as many as 41
respondents. This study uses univariate and bivariate analysis, which are presented in
tabular and narrative form.
Chi-square test results obtained P value = 0.039 (0.039 <0.05), thus
statistically there is a significant relationship between anxiety levels and blood sugar
levels in people with Diabetes Mellitus at Sangurara Health Center with a
contingency coefficient value of 0.444.
The conclusion in this study is that there is a significant relationship between
the level of anxiety and blood sugar levels in diabetics at Sangurara Health Center.
