(A) The Centripetal Acceleration: Solution 1
(A) The Centripetal Acceleration: Solution 1
As object is moving around a circular path with a constant speed, so only possible
acceleration will be centripetal acceleration or radial acceleration.
This centripetal acceleration is always directed toward the centre of the circle and its
magnitude can be calculated by following relation.
(a) The centripetal acceleration
v2
ac =
r
Mass= m = 5 kg, Speed= v = 6 m.s-1 and r = 18 cm = 0.18 m
(6)2
ac = = 200 m.s-2
0.18
(b) The net force
m v2
Fnet=
r
5∗6 2
Fnet= = 1000 N
0.18
……………………………………………………………………………………………….
Solution 2
32
ac = = 3 m.s-2

(b) The net force
m v2
Fnet=
r
25∗32
Fnet= = 75 N

(c) Weight is mass times the gravitational acceleration at that place or w=mg. Where
g= 9.81 m. s-2. The ratio between these two forces is
Fnet 75
= = 0.306
w 25∗9.81

Solution 3 The child revolves in a circular path, so the net centripetal force experiences, is
determined by
m v2
Fc= (1)
r
Mass= m = 20 kg, Force (Tension) = F= 100 N and r = 2 m and ω=?
As we Know that the relationship between linear and angular speed is
v=rω (2)
So, from equation 1 the speed is
r∗F 2∗100
v=
√ m
=
√ 20
= 3.16 m. s-1
11.782
ac = = 11.56 m. s-2

(c) The net force on the of child is
m v2
Fc=
r
Fc= 35∗11.56= 404.6 N
