What is soil structure?

Soil structure is the way in which the soil particles are arranged
or grouped together.
Types of soil structure.
Soil structure type
Single-grain structure  This soil consists of
individual particles
that do not stick
together.
 They have large air
spaces that allow air
and water to pass
through easily.
 They do not hold
enough water for
plant growth.
 This structure is
commonly found in
sandy soil
Crumb or granular structure  These soil
aggregates with
medium space
between them.
 They are commonly
a mixture of sand,
clay and humus.
