The most important motive/reason for the exploration and navigation by

the European countries

For me, the most important is the thirst for glory. According to Exploros, “Glory” refers to
the competition between monarchies. ... The intense competition between major European
powers led to increased exploration, the building of trade networks, and a scramble for colonies.
Columbus hoped to find the sea route to the silk- and spice-rich lands of China and
Southeast Asia. That’s what made the Europeans explore, they chose Asia because Asian
countries are very rich in raw materials.

Other than Europe(continent) many other countries also want to colonize the Southeast
Asian countries, Why? Well according to Vitchitrong na Pombhejara “Southeast Asia is a
traditional producer and exporter of raw materials and of natural resources as defined here.
Favored by climatic and soil conditions, the region is rich in agricultural resources including
forests. In addition, deposits of various economic minerals are also to be found”.
