Disaster Preparedness Webinar for PWD, Victims of Disasters and

Calamities and Fisherfolks

Preparing for a disaster can make it challenging to the people with

disabilities. Person with disabilities require assistance and additional lead time
when a disaster strikes. It is important to plan ahead and prepare for a disaster.

November 9, 2021 Tuesday, 9:20 AM, Civil Defense PH held a webinar

titled Disaster Preparedness Webinar for PWD, Victims of Disasters and
Calamities and Fisherfolks. ASEC. Casiano C. Monilla give his opening remarks
to begin the webinar. The webinar aims to discuss the importance of disaster
preparedness among persons with disabilities, victims of disasters and fisherfolks
to reduce the impact of disaster through proper information and proactive
practices. This webinar consists of three topics and these are: (1) The Inclusivity
Dimension in Disaster Risk Reduction and Management by Corazon Bajuyo-
Clarin, Convenor, Cebu Disability-Inclusive Disaster Risk Reduction Network (2)
Disaster Resilience Technologies and Innovations by Nickie Boy Manalo, PhD,
Batangas State University (3) Stories of Resilience: From Disaster Victims to
Disaster Survivors by Mayfourth Lumeta, Deputy Executive Director, Center for
Disaster Preparedness.

The webinar ends well without any difficulties. It brings strong knowledge
not only for all the people who watched the webinar but also to all PWD, Victims
of Disasters and Calamities and Fisherfolks. They are now informed and prepared
to face any disasters through the help of the webinar conducted by Civil Defense
PH.
