Sha Tin College Food Technology

Food product: Cupcakes (Group of 4)


Ingredients:
50g self raising flour
50g butter (soft)
50g sugar
1 egg

CHOOSE ONE:
Cocoa powder (around 10g)
Almond essence (drop)
Lemon zest
Peppermint essence (drop)
Vanilla extract (drop)

Equipment: Mixing bowl, wooden spoon, rubber spatula, fork, measuring


jug, spoon, cupcake paper cases, muffin tin

Preparation: 1. Tie hair back, put on apron and wash hands


2. Collect ingredients
3. Collect equipment
4. Preheat the oven to 180°C

Method: 1. In a mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar


together until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg a little at a
time and stir in the flavour essence you choose.
2. Fold in the flour and coco powder (if you choose) using
rubber spatula, until all ingredients well combined.
3. Spoon the mixture equally into the paper cases.
4. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown on top and
a skewer inserted into one of the cakes comes out clean.
5. Remove the cupcakes from the oven and set aside to
cool.
