Judging from the data revealed in the genetic breakdown, the 48 mutations which esp affect

the vaccine-targeted S-Protein are those that we know help the virus evade the immune
system, i.e., to resist antibodies and avoid detection by some of the body’s front-line
defenses. It has mutations that can knock out binding sites for antibodies, mutations that
will enable it to bind more tightly to host cells and mutations that can make it faster to get
in and establish an infection before the immune system can act. We also know that it is
more transmissible and more infectious, however we do not know just how severe an
infection can be as associated with this variant. We’ll have to wait to count whatever
hospitalizations occur. The good news is that mRNA Tech. enables a relatively swift vaccine
modification which could be ready in as soon as three months. Meanwhile, it will take two or
three weeks to collect and analyze enough data on which to draw a few initial conclusions.
