2021 is about to end but the nearly 2 years old coronavirus isn't.

 On 26 November 2021, WHO declared a new coronavirus variant -B.1.1.529

named Omicron found in Botswana of South Africa.
 According to WHO, this new variant could pose a greater risk than the delta
variant due to heavy mutation caused in the spike protein of it's structure.
 Just like the delta variant, it shows no signs and symptoms. But, the good
news is it can be detected using the PCR tests.
 It is also preventable by following the COVID guidelines. As per the current
research done, the variation in spike protein has caused a 40% reduction in
the efficacy of the vaccines.
However, the studies are in the nascent phase. Further research will surely help curb the
relentless waves of infection.

micron is the name assigned to a new strain of Corona virus which reportedly has affected
about 100 persons in Africa so far. Its seriousness, virulence etc remains to be tested and
analyzed and the process will take a few weeks to study.

Current knowledge about Omicron (28–11–2021)

Researchers in South Africa and around the world are conducting studies to better

studies as they become available.
